Antonio Villaraigosa, former California Assembly Speaker, Congressman and Los Angeles mayor, came on The Drive with Steve Jaxon to talk about his view of the convention and his plans for his political future. First he describes passing through a group of peaceful protesters outside the convention. With Bernie Sanders set to take the stage later that evening, he talks about how he expects the party to unite, despite that some of his supporters were acting “a little unruly” in the hall. Antonio says that they need to reach out to them and have a conversation about the real challenges ahead. While he is not making a formal announcement about whether he will run for Governor of California, he tells about the listening tour that he has been on and what he thinks the voters want.
Lanny Davis is a Drive Hall-of-Famer and he sat down with Steve Jaxon at the Democratic National Convention this week to discuss anything and everything related to this year’s campaign. On the second day of the convention, the headline was that the previous day’s discord ended on a high note. Lanny Davis remembered how he felt in 2008 when the candidate he had supported, Hillary Clinton, did not win the nomination. He predicts that 98 out of 100 Sanders supporters will vote for Hillary Clinton in the general election. He suggests that Jill Stein should be wearing a Trump button as he thinks she contributes to the danger that Trump could be elected. He suggests that Stein and Gary Johnson deserve to be on at least one of the debates.
Jerry Springer dropped in on The Drive with Steve Jaxon and Bill Press joined them, for a wide ranging discussion of the campaign, the candidates and the convention.
Congressman Jared Huffman represents California’s 2nd district. He visited Steve Jaxon on Day 3 of the convention. He talks about Bill Clinton’s speech from the night before, where the former President told the personal story of how he met Hillary and of her career. They talk about the speeches expected that evening, including President Obama’s last speech as President to a Democratic convention. With Hillary’s acceptance speech expected the following night, Congressman Huffman sees her continuing the reconciliation with Sanders supporters. He is a super delegate and he talks about the consensus reform adopted this year that will limit super delegates to Congress members and governors.

She will also do a show on Monday November 7, the night before the Presidential election, which will go out live via satellite into movie theaters around the country. She describes the convention as “summer camp for politcal nerds.”
Eric Boehlert of Media Matters America joined Steve Jaxon on Day 3 of the DNC, which only feels like Day 7 to Steve. He recaps the story of Media Matters, a liberal media watchdog that monitors and reports on right wing media. He breaks down the questions about Donald Trump’s taxes, his suspicious Russian ties and whether he will agree to debate with Hillary Clinton. They discuss whether Trump is really in it to win and whether he intends to serve at all if elected.
